The Artificial Intelligence Initiative

The Norwegian Government is increasing research efforts on artificial intelligence and digital technologies by at least one billion over the next five years. Six national research centres on artificial intelligence will start up in 2025. Their goal is to strengthen and complement the existing AI portfolio consisting of many hundreds of research and innovation projects, including several large research centres.

In the Research Council's project bank, you can find statistics and an overview of all AI projects funded by us or the EU by searching for the topic: "Artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analysis" and/or "Robotics, automation". In 2025, there will be over 600 active projects with a planned consumption of NOK 1 billion.
